Website design By BotEap.comYou’d think that at the age of 33 I might have adopted some kind of skincare routine for myself, but until last year, I thought a little warm water and a little Dial was doing the job. I have bought a few different moisturizers over the years but never stuck with any of them. Growing up in the backwoods of New Hampshire, fashion, hair, and makeup were never of much importance (and even when they were, we were a little behind the times!) It never occurred to me that you didn’t have to be a glam girl to take good care of my skin.

Website design By BotEap.comAs I got older, I started wearing a little bit of makeup, but it still didn’t do much for my skin. A year ago my mother developed skin cancer on her nose. Having surgery on the face is a terrifying thing and I admire her bravery through the whole process. Since then I started to realize that taking care of my skin and protecting it from the sun is really important. Hey! Meanwhile, I’m not getting any younger and I notice darker spots on my own freckled face. I guess it’s never too late to start doing something positive.

Website design By BotEap.comWhy is a skincare routine so important?

Website design By BotEap.comphysical appearance

Website design By BotEap.comThis is probably the main reason for me when I consider skin care. Unhealthy skin looks sallow and dull, while well-cared for skin looks younger and brighter. Dehydrated skin tends to develop deeper wrinkles and uneven skin tone.

Website design By BotEap.comUnhealthy skin care habits lead to rashes, breakouts, wrinkles, and infections. It also makes us more susceptible to disease. The skin is the largest organ in our body! Staying healthy means taking care of it, just as we would our lungs and heart.

Website design By BotEap.comOne of the things that I thought was great when I joined Miessence was their catalogue. I know it sounds nerdy but it was very educational for me. I have difficulty navigating ulta and am easily overwhelmed by all brands of creams and lotions. The catalog made finding a skincare routine easy by categorizing each product into one of four profiles.

  • flushed and red easily
Website design By BotEap.comOf course you can mix and match. The profiles give a basic idea of where to start. Most of my skin problems lead me to the Purifying Profile. My skincare routine is a simple 3-step process. I use the certified organic cleanser first, then the organic conditioner to nourish my skin and lock in the organic moisturizer, which is the last step.

Website design By BotEap.comI don’t just use the catalog to look at what I want to order, I use it as a reference. Each product page provides information on why the product is useful, how to use it, and when to use it. Being the skincare newbie that I was, I found this really helpful. Lastly, (and I promise to stop bragging about the catalog later) the last six pages list each product and each and every ingredient it contains.
