I know how you feel because I’ve been there! Over the years, if I added up all the massage sheet sets I’ve thrown away, there would be enough to supply a mid-size hotel. Not to mention the dryer fires! No kidding, one day driving home in my car, I started coughing from the smoke coming from the back seat of my car. Holy cow, my sheets were on fire! At first, I blamed this on the high-heat dryers in the laundry room, but now I know better. If you are sick and tired of going through massage sheets because they are ruined by oil stains or dryer burn marks, here is what I suggest:

This is especially good because you don’t have to spend your time at a launderette or have high utility bills for all the extra use of appliances around the home. Also, if the sheets get stained or ripped, it’s not your problem. The main drawback to this is that you must have a real office location. Bedding services will not be delivered to the home, they want to pick it up and drop it off at a business location. The other bummer is that you have to commit to a weekly delivery fee. This means that you have to pay for new sheets every week, regardless of whether you have used up your old supply. May I suggest that if you still want to go this route, partner with someone who already has an account with a linen service and then they can help split the costs.

I wanted to go back to washing my own sheets so I wouldn’t have to bother my friend every time, I ran out of sheets. This time, I did some research to find out how to get the massage oil out of the sheets and stop ruining my sheets, so I had to throw them away. There didn’t seem to be much information on the internet on this topic, so between trial and error and talking to friends, this is what I came up with.

Website design By BotEap.com1. Start with fresh, new leaves. I know it feels like a waste to throw away the sheets, but if they look bad, it makes a terrible impression on our customers. If you can’t bear to throw them away, donate them somewhere. I recommend purchasing industrial grade blades. Those used by hotels and hospitals and lingerie services are usually T-180 sheets. I like to buy the ones that are as close to the twin blade dimensions as possible. They may seem stiff, but they go soft faster than you think.

Website design By BotEap.com4. Wash only a maximum of 3 sets of sheets together at a time. You want your sheets to be cleaned, so avoid filling your machine.

Website design By BotEap.com6. If they seem a bit oily, add 1 regular box of regular size baking soda. When I add baking soda, I generally like to add a small box of peroxide. Baking soda and peroxide make an excellent paste for cleaning and polishing.

Website design By BotEap.com8. Stagger your laundry detergents, just like shampoo build-up, I think the laundry soap needs to be rotated too. Sometimes I use laundry soap and sometimes I use a degreaser dish soap.

I have found that if I let the sheets sit too long before washing them, it is more difficult to remove the oil because it hardens. Also, be careful not to expose dirty sheets to direct sunlight. If your sheets are in direct sunlight, the sun will burn the oil and it will set on your sheets. It will smell stale and you can never get it out.

You never want to put your massage sheets in the dryer because if you didn’t get the oil out the first time, you will leave the oil on the sheets and it can cause future fires in your dryer. One day I was driving home and found that my car was filling with smoke. Turns out my sheets were on fire in the back seat of my car. I hope this never happens to you! If you have a sheet that has dried but doesn’t look as clean as you’d like, toss it into the next load of sheets with a cup of stain remover.
