The movie itself, which hits theaters on March 23, 2012, is heavily promoted and is likely THE 2012 movie. It is based on Suzanne Collins, the Hunger Games trilogy, which features the books: The Hunger Games, Catching Fire and the third and final book in the Mockinjay series. The film is based on the first book in the heartbreaking Hunger Games saga.
