Website design By BotEap.comOne year before the famous and controversial battle of Kosovo, the monk Gavrilo, the kosingas (leader) of the Order of the Dragon, meets Marko Kraljevic (“kraljevic” means “son of a king”) who turns out to be the Warrior of the prophecy of the Oracle of Fire, who will lead the knights of the Order of the Dragon from all over the world against the hordes of Hades.

It is up to the monk Gavrilo to better teach him and prepare him to inherit the position and duty of kosingas.

After the visit, Lazar goes to prepare the Serbs for the fight against the Ottoman Empire, and Marko and Gavrilo go on a quest to find the legendary weapon for which Marko became famous in Serbian folklore.

They will also pass through the Serbian country, and readers will learn a lot about the (very) old Serbian custom, some of them cruel, like the custom of a mining town to throw most of the females down a well, because girls don’t they can become miners.

You will also learn much more about ancient religion and ancient gods, because although he is a Christian, the help of the ancient Wolf deity (legend has it that wolves are ancestors of the Serbs) Strahor will prove necessary.

Website design By BotEap.comThis novel is set in 14th century Serbia. An avid mountaineer, Aleksandar Tesic has visited every part of Serbia he describes, and it shows himself in detailed and colorful descriptions. He knows exactly what they look like, and he also asked about the old custom: some of the old beliefs (you must do this, you must not do that) are still there.

Website design By BotEap.comWhile the folklore and legends of Serbia are rich, very little is known, even among Serbs themselves. Kosingas – The Order of the Dragon says a lot about them, though never in an overwhelming way, it just comes naturally throughout the story. In the middle of the book are some high-quality illustrations, mostly showing mythological creatures that Marko and Gavrilo encounter on their way.

Website design By BotEap.comIn the background of this world, a silent war is raging between Christianity and the ancient Slavic faith. While they are not as powerful as they used to be, the old gods are still very much present and are not content to be forgotten. Some peace will have to be found between the old and the new faith, or the world itself could be left in ruins.

Website design By BotEap.comKosingas – The Order of the Dragon is Tesic’s first novel, but it offers a very mature book about heroes and monsters and legends, about old and new gods, about good and evil. Folklore, country, and history were thoroughly researched before writing, but despite the wealth of data, the novel manages to make an intriguing and fun read.
