Website design By BotEap.comThe premise of Rock Star, a complementary reality series from the music industry, is that a band or musical group seeks to recruit a new lead singer from a cast of contestants who have auditioned and been accepted to participate in the Program. In the first season of Rock Star, Australian super group INXS chose the winner of the JD Fortune contest as their lead singer. For the second season, a new group called Supernova was formed explicitly for the purpose of the reality series. The second season of Rock Star (Rock Star: Supernova) premiered on July 5, 2006 on CBS in the United States.

Website design By BotEap.comRock Star: Supernova works like American Idol; Yet Rock Star contestants keep their wardrobe resplendent with leather pants, studded necklaces, and skull-and-crossbones T-shirts. The second season of the Rock Star series focuses on the formation of Supernova, a rock super group with Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee, former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted and former Guns N ‘Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke. The newly formed Supernova will record an album once the season is over and begin a world tour sometime in early 2007. Supernova’s first live performance will take place on New Years Eve at The Joint, a club on the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

The series actually began online on the Supernova website on MSN on July 3, 2006 with an exclusive Internet episode and then debuted on CBS two days later, on July 5, 2006. Website design By BotEap.comDuring the first season, viewers were able to see behind-the-scenes footage on television; however, Supernova offers these episodes only online on the MSN website or through a subscription to Verizon.

Website design By BotEap.comEach week, the contestants perform in an acting episode and an evaluation episode. During the performance episode, contestants cover songs by artists like Nirvana, Bon Jovi, The Police, and The Who. Each week in the evaluation episode, a finalist is asked to perform an encore to the song they performed the night before. The three finalists with the lowest votes are asked to perform a song of their choice in front of the judges and the audience. Every now and then a finalist is chosen to debut a new song of Supernova with members of the group. The weekly elimination of a contestant is based on both performances.
