Where to sell those VHS titles

Website design By BotEap.comThe last thing I want to do is discourage you with your own ideas of where to sell those VHS titles you’ve accumulated over the years. Or maybe you’re a keen collector looking to free up some space in what was once a 3-bedroom house and is now a 2-bedroom house with a large shed upstairs.

Website design By BotEap.comBut seriously, there are plenty of places you could try to sell your VHS tapes. There are many outlets online, including eBay, Craigslist.com, and Amazon, etc. You can sell nationally at garage sales, car trunks, and classified ads in your local newspaper.

Website design By BotEap.comThe thing to remember is this; You want to get as targeted a buying audience as possible, and with that being the case, you also want that audience to be as large as possible.

Website design By BotEap.comSelling VHS titles is very much a niche business and that niche is broken down into smaller niches. So it makes a lot of sense to try to show your VHS titles to everyone who might be interested.

Website design By BotEap.comSome buyers may only be interested in documentaries, others trains or travel. Still others may collect comedy or live band performances etc.

Website design By BotEap.comBut if all these people are looking in the same place, there’s a good chance they’ll see some of your video titles, if they’re there to be seen.

Website design By BotEap.comThe biggest marketplaces are of course eBay and Amazon.

Website design By BotEap.comI’m only going to recommend Amazon – WHY?

Website design By BotEap.comFor a very good reason. Amazon has a real advantage over eBay because they actually have a category called “VHS” and eBay doesn’t.

Website design By BotEap.comInstead, eBay has a category called “DVDs, Movies and TV.”

Website design By BotEap.comYes, it’s true that if you type ‘VHS tapes’ into eBay’s search bar, then look under the category heading, you’ll see “Videos: VHS” mentioned.

Website design By BotEap.comBut here’s the real difference…

Website design By BotEap.comLast time I looked, eBay was showing 2,337 listings under that heading, but at the same time, Amazon had over 83,000.

Website design By BotEap.comAmazon is by far the most popular place to sell and is the obvious market for a niche selling company.

Website design By BotEap.comIf you are a collector or simply sell redundant VHS tapes lying around the house, something you should definitely consider getting is a properly researched and up-to-date list of VHS titles. A list that shows you which tapes have a value. There are many, many VHS tapes being advertised on Amazon.co.uk for 1p. This is ridiculous and it will be a complete waste of time trying to sell some of your VHS titles when there clearly may be a saturated market for certain titles.

Website design By BotEap.comSo either you need a researched listing or you will have to research each of your titles individually. This isn’t much of a problem if you only have a few, but if you have a loose load or are actually getting VHS titles as a means of providing a second income, then having a list that tells you which VHS titles have value is something that will save you an enormous amount of time and also prevent you from wasting money buying tapes that have little or no value.
