World of Warcraft Strategy: Pit of Saron

Website design By BotEap.comPit of Saron (aka PoS to players) is the second of three new 5-man dungeons located in the Frozen Halls in Icecrown Citadel. To enter Pit of Saron, players must complete Forge of Souls first and complete their quest chain, allowing them to explore further in the Frozen Corridors. Many players are interested in getting some gear upgrades from this instance as the loot in frozen rooms is better and all bosses drop epic quality items even on normal mode difficulty. Trash mobs in this case can also drop Battered Hilt on Heroic Difficulty, an item that starts missions to obtain different weapons, so many players come to this dungeon hoping that Battered Hilt will drop. There are three bosses in Forge of Souls: Forgemaster Garfrost is the first, Ick & Krick is the second, and Scourgelord Tyrannus is the third, the final.

Garbage Mobs: There are various types of garbage mobs in Pit of Saron that have different abilities. Players must be careful not to attract too many mobs at the same time, as some of them can seriously damage the tank or blind the healer for short periods of time. However, for a well prepared and careful group, litter will not be a problem, just watch where you step and be aware of your surroundings.

Forgemaster Garfrost – This is the first boss of the instance, a large ice giant that you will find on the right side of the main path after climbing the stairs. He has several skeletal smith mobs that are linked to him; even if they are far from Garfrost when you go up the stairs, they will run towards the group when you shoot, so your tank should be ready to pick them up and the dps should kill. remove them quickly. This is a multi-phase fight as Garfrost will occasionally run to his forge to forge a new weapon. With each new weapon he forges, he will deal more and more freeze damage to your party.

Website design By BotEap.comTo defeat this boss in an easy and clean way, players must take advantage of his Throw Saronite ability; Every now and then, he will target a member of his party and throw massive bolder saronite at them. Hiding behind this rock once it lands will remove stacks of your Permafrost debuff and you will no longer take increased freeze damage.

Ick & Krick – This boss is on the western side of the well. This fight is very simple and shouldn’t be a problem for any group as long as the players are aware of what’s going on around them and react and move accordingly. Fires poisonous rays to the ground creating green areas where players should not stand.

Website design By BotEap.comExplosive Bombardment is another ability Ick & Krick uses that creates slow-growing spheres on the ground that explode when they reach their maximum size. The group must move accordingly to avoid being hit by the explosions.

Website design By BotEap.comPoison Nova is another ability used by this boss – this is an AoE spell (15 yards) and has a cast time, so once the boss starts casting it, players / including the tank / have time to move out of its scope and return in melee. rank once Poison Nova is cast.

Website design By BotEap.comEvery now and then during the fight, a player in your party will be marked for Pursuit: 12 seconds of pursuit of that player. During this ability, no one should come between the boss and the chased player, as Ick will kick them with 150% damage, which can be potentially dangerous for his party’s dps members or healers.

Scourgelord Tyrannus – You reach this boss after going through an ice tunnel gauntlet. After a short introductory speech, the Plague Lord will dismount from his Frost Wyrm Rimefang and you will have to fight Tyrannus alone, as Rimefang will not be targeted by your party during the fight. This fight is fairly straightforward with few skills for players to be vigilant and react accordingly. Even though Rimefang will not be the group’s target, he will drop patches of frost on the ground during the fight. Standing in those patches will slow down your movement speed, so you should avoid doing this.

Website design By BotEap.comEvery now and then, Rimefang will also launch an icy attack on a target player that will freeze the target and deal a large amount of freeze damage; this should heal quickly. If the players are close to each other, Rimefang will be able to freeze more than one player, that is why for this fight the recommended strategy is to stay as dispersed as possible.

Website design By BotEap.comThe key and the most important skill for this fight is the Mark of the Overlord cast by Scourgelord Tyrannus. Overlord’s Brand will link the player to Scourgelord Tyrannus and you will see a red line linking you to him (if you are a dps) or a green line (if you are a healer). Every action you take while linked to the boss in a certain way – DPS taken while linked will be reflected on your tank and cause your tank to take damage. The healing done will be channeled to Tyrannus, meaning that you will heal him if you cast a healing spell while attached. What players need to do when bonded is to simply stop doing anything until Overlord’s Brand is done. For those who do damage it will be an easy thing to do, however for healers it could look different: if your tank will die if it does not heal you, heal it and then the party will have to wipe out the bonus HP of the boss. will win, however, prolonging the fight is better than cleaning up due to the dead tank. It is the healer’s responsibility to judge the risk when linked to the Overlord’s Band and to heal or not.

Website design By BotEap.comScourgelord Tyrannus has another ability that the tank should be mostly aware of: the Forceful Smash ability that deals 30,000 damage in normal mode and 50,000 in heroic mode to the tank. Before this skill gains, the boss will launch an emote (“Scourgelord Tyrannus roars and swells with dark power!”) And tanks can walk away and kite the boss until the skill is used or if they are better prepared: shoot some cooldowns and take damage. Again, it’s up to the tank to know their abilities and damage mitigation cooldowns and decide if 30,000 (50,000) hits is something they can survive without putting too much pressure on their healer.

Website design By BotEap.comTyrannus also gains the Unholy Power ability along with Blunt Strike, effectively doubling his speed and damage dealt. Most groups choose to kite Scourgelord Tyrannus when these 2 abilities occur, but I have healed it very well with a very well equipped tank.
