If you watch movies like “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner,” the plot involves an upper-class liberal woman who introduces her black fiancé to dinner with her parents. When the film was released in 1967, 17 states in the southern US had laws prohibiting interracial marriage. The movie made a splash because it intentionally debunked racist stereotypes, that is. The black man was not portrayed as a stereotypical uneducated black man, but as an educated young doctor.

However, interracial dating will continue to be a controversial topic because the number of people, in general, who date outside of their race is outnumbered by those who do not. As a result, there will always be racism.
