However, what happens when your Oto eats all the algae and doesn’t grow fast enough to support your catfish? Well, there are several other types of foods that you can add to supplement Oto’s diet.

Website design By BotEap.com1. Others love to eat fresh vegetables. Vegetables like spinach, romaine lettuce, parsley, cucumber, zucchini, green beans, and peas are great options. Cut them into small pieces and then blanch them, as these catfish need the vegetables to be soft in order to eat them. If vegetables are left in the tank about 24 hours later, be sure to remove them before they dirty the water.

These are a good source of protein that your catfish couldn’t get any other way as they are mostly vegetarian. If you have other fish in your tank, be aware that your Oto may not get to frozen foods sooner than any other fish, as almost all tropical fish go crazy for these frozen foods.

Make sure the ingredient list has spirulina (algae) near the top as that is what attracts catfish and can be the difference between your Oto ignoring the food and eating it.
