Website design By BotEap.comThere have been many explanations for the origin of the word “Jeep”. Some suggest it was informally named after Eugene the Jeep, a character from the Popeye comic strip because soldiers were so fascinated with the new vehicles. However, the best known theory is that the military designation GP (for government or general purpose purposes) was mixed with the word Jeep, while Willys-Overland president Joe Frazer claims to have coined the term Jeep by dragging the initials GP for your vehicle model. Willys-Overland was also the company that filed the original trademark application in February 1943.
