Problems in the Urbanization Process

Website design By BotEap.comHuman history has been considered as a course of migration of man from the countryside to the city, so urbanization is seen as the symbol of human civilization. However, just as we enjoy the comforts of urban life, we also enjoy the comforts of urban life; we also have to suffer many problems that urbanization brings us. Among them, environmental pollution is one of the most serious.

To get enough space to live, urban residents sacrifice large areas of forests, fields, and arable land to build roads and houses. Many plants and animals in turn lose their natural habitats and some may die from the displacement process. In addition, the growing urban population also damages the ecosystem with a large amount of household garbage. Garbage mounds dumped outside are a good example. Even if people bury or burn the waste, it can cause soil or air pollution.

Gone are those days when people enjoyed swimming in the river and fishing on the shore. Sometimes, worse yet, raw sewage discharged from chemical factories directly poisons urban water supplies. Drinking water has become a scarce resource and people have to drink somewhat contaminated water. So, one of its results has been the appearance of many new diseases and more and more cases of cancer.

With the expansion of the urban area and the extension of the city’s roads, heavier traffic grows. Thousands of cars, buses and trucks in operation produce a large amount of exhaust gases that inevitably pollute the air. Sometimes the air quality is so bad that people feel short of breath and go to the oxygen bar to take a break. In addition, the endless traffic causes serious noise pollution. It is common to hear a car honking its horn here and there, a truck thundering down the highway, a city train roaring at night. These noises sound to me as if our modern civilization and urbanization are constantly being mocked.

Our quality of life can be threatened by environmental pollution resulting from urbanization. And if the problem is not solved, our desire for a comfortable urban life will be just a dream.
