Can Noosa Heads be a worker’s vacation paradise?

Website design By BotEap.comNoosa Heads is not generally considered a working holiday destination. Accommodation along the beach fronting Hasting Street is exclusive to the wealthy. However, there are plenty of activities that “no-good-doers” can enjoy without costing them a “penny.” Let me tell you how.

(Noosa Beach faces north and is a safe beach for children while also allowing swimmers to enjoy body surfing.) Alternatively, one can window shop along Hasting Street, have ice cream or a meal at the Noosa Lifesavers Club overlooking the beach.

Website design By BotEap.comIf you like to walk, you can take either of the two directions along the beach. If you go left (west) along the beach, you will come to the mouth of the Noosa River. This gives you a great view of the north coast of Noosa and if you look upriver you will see a beautiful view of the river valley and inland. This area is known as The Spit. There are plenty of quiet spots along the river to sunbathe and swim, plus a number of walking trails. The mouth of the river is also a popular fishing spot.

Stop by Little Cove, a great spot for swimming and sunbathing away from the Noosa Beach crowds. You will then walk past surfers riding the waves as you enter the national park grounds. At the park entrance, past the parking areas, is an information center displaying maps of the various hikes available, from short hikes through the nearby rainforest to much longer hikes along the coast to Alexander Bay (a nude beach) and Devil’s Kitchen (a spectacular seascape) to Sunshine Beach. Koalas are often seen in the gum trees above the trail throughout the early parts of this hike. This trail is mostly flat foot. If you’re fit and more adventurous, there are several other trails, one of which takes the walker to the top of Noosa Hill, where there’s a spectacular vantage point that shows visitors views of the Noosa Valley and mountains to the west. This viewpoint is accessible by car via Viewland Road near the Noosa Hotel.

Website design By BotEap.comAnother way to enjoy the Noosa atmosphere is to take a ferry from the pier behind Hasting Street all the way up the river to Tewantin and back.

Website design By BotEap.comA trip upriver from Noosa Heads takes you through Noosaville (where you can sunbathe and swim at the sandy riverside beaches) and on to Tewantin Village. If you continue through Tewantin along the road to Cooroy, you can detour to Mt Tinbeerwah lookout, which gives you sweeping views of the Noosa River valley and Great Sandy National Park with the ocean beyond.

Website design By BotEap.comExcept for ice cream in Hasting Street or lunch at the Lifesavers club, all of these activities are free. You just have to go there to enjoy a very special place. Many of these activities can be done together in one day. If the worker can find affordable family accommodation away from Noosa Heads, then they can spend more time exploring the secrets of Noosa Heads and the Noosa River Valley and understand why it is one of the most special places in Australia.
