Website design By BotEap.comThere are some supplies you will need. You will need something that displays your products. This can be a catalog or a brochure. It’s something you can put in the hands of the person you’re talking to. You’ll also need business cards and a lead tracking sheet.

Website design By BotEap.comIf you’re going door-to-door, my suggestion is to go on the weekend or in the late afternoon. This is when you are likely to find the most people at home.

Website design By BotEap.comThink of yourself when you open the door to a stranger. My first goal is to get something into your hands. So I say, “I’d like to give you a catalog.” Of course, I mention the name of the company when I hand them the catalogue. The vast majority of people will accept the free item you give them.

2. Would you like to receive new catalogs as they become available?
3. Do you know someone who might be interested in selling the products? If you do and if you sign up and place an order, I’ll give you a $10 product gift certificate.
4. Do you know anyone else who might want a catalogue?
5. Can I get your email address?
6. Would you like to receive my monthly newsletter?
7. Have you ever considered throwing a house party?
8. Can I call or email you next week to see if there are any items you would like to purchase?

Website design By BotEap.comEvery conversation is different, so each person is asked a different combination of the above questions. On my lead tracking sheet, I write down the direction and outcome of the conversation. Then I can follow up next week with what we agreed on.

Website design By BotEap.comThis same technique also works for a person-to-person encounter. For example, if you’re at the grocery store, say hello to the stranger in line in front of you. Offer this person your catalog or sales flyer. Ask some of the questions above. Be prepared to write down their phone number, email address, or any other information you receive from them.
