It is approximately a 20-minute drive from Murcia airport and a 35-minute drive from Alicante airport, making it a very popular destination on the Costa Blanca. The “Blue Flag” beaches of Guardamar del Segura are just 10 minutes away by car.
Los Montesinos has a calm and quiet environment. It is located on the edge of the beautiful salt lake that creates a microclimate that makes it one of the healthiest places in the world to live according to the World Health Organization. It is surrounded by orange and lemon trees and in spring you can smell the magnificent aroma of orange and lemon blossom and notice the many almond trees with their pinkish-lilac blossom.

Further back in history, it has Roman origins including the main road in the direction of Jacarilla, Bigastro and Orihuela. Known as the Via Augusta, it was the most important road in Spain during the Roman occupation.

Website design By BotEap.comThe main economy of the town has been mainly agriculture, however in more recent times the industrial district has grown with many Spanish and British companies offering a variety of services and industries.

Website design By BotEap.comThere are two schools in Los Montesinos, the primary school is Virgen del Pilar and the secondary school is Los Montesinos les Antonio Sequeras. Both are highly respected and sought after schools.

All essential facilities and services are within walking distance, from fresh food stores, supermarkets, more than 30 bars, restaurants and tapas bars, schools, a music academy, medical center, municipal sports center, parks and a host of from other stores and facilities.

Although here the main festival is in October and lasts a whole week (hectic).

Website design By BotEap.comThe party is open to everyone from 11 in the morning and continues into the evening. It is very nice to be able to spend the day in a real Spanish environment. Usually there are a few Brits there for part of the day, but mostly Spanish families enjoy their picnic style lunch. There is also a huge and delicious paella free for all and absolutely delicious. Some of the locals wear their National Costume, also horsemen trotting their beautiful horses through the grounds in preparation for the procession where they follow the statue of the Virgin through the fields behind the old church of La Marquesa, much photographed.

Website design By BotEap.comThere is a bar and barbecue, however most people take their coolers with their own food and drink, sit at one of the tables, and settle in for the rest of the day while listening to the DJ play a selection of Music during the afternoon and live band at night. It’s a lot of fun dancing with the local people and trying to converse with them in our poor Spanish.
