Older living people continue to smoke while non-smokers die younger

Website design By BotEap.comSmoking is supposed to kill people. What I find quite strange is the number of smokers who outlive non-smokers. The average life expectancy for most first world countries is around 75 to 80 years. However, smokers live longer than this average.

He survived Levi Celeio of the Philippines, who died at 91, having smoked his entire life. Cigarettes also surpassed the Queen Mother of Elizabeth II when she died at 101 after being a smoker for most of her life. George Burns is known to have smoked cigars until he was 100, which is why Milton Berle refused to quit; sadly he died of colon cancer at the age of 93. Hollywood director Billy Wilder died at the age of 95, having been a lifelong smoker.

Website design By BotEap.comJeanne Calment lived 122 years and 164 days and smoked most of her life, I guess smoking killed her, but the question is what killed all the non-smokers who didn’t live as long as she did. Anyway, people with good intentions used to tell Jeanne to quit smoking because it would kill her in the end. I guess in the end she did, because she quit when she was 117, only to pick it up when she turned 118, because it made her feel miserable not to smoke.

Website design By BotEap.comThere are many more people that I can name who have lived over 100 years and still smoke. I myself don’t smoke, although I did once. The reason I stopped smoking is that I hated being enslaved by the habit. If I am going to live 122 years or more, I would rather not smoke. But then I don’t feel miserable.

Website design By BotEap.comIt is claimed that there is a direct correlation between lung cancer and smoking. I suppose we could argue that there is a direct correlation between longevity and smoking. However, I would suggest that dying has more to do with other factors than smoking.

Website design By BotEap.comPoor nutrition and inner anxiety probably contribute more to death than anything else. It is not a coincidence that heart disease is the cause of death. Anxiety has been shown to increase cancer and increase blood pressure, which puts stress on the heart. If this is combined with insufficient nutrients reaching the heart through inadequate nutritional intake for the individual, heart disease becomes the leading cause of death, followed by cancer, and both are related to anxiety.
