This breed likes to bark, dig, climb and jump. Well, a jumping dog is a common way to welcome guests, right? From a dog’s perspective, jumping at people is not bad, but a way of welcoming the owner or the owner’s guests. However, this is not the same from the perspective of a human being. Most guests and even owners are annoyed to see dogs jumping out the second they open the door to enter the house.

Website design By BotEap.comBut even if you don’t like your Jack Russell terrier jumping on people, you can’t scold or yell at him when he does because it’s part of his personality – jumping is part of a dog’s natural behavior. Instead of scolding, yelling, or shoving your dog, you can correct the behavior by simply ignoring it. Act like you’re not excited to see him or, better yet, pretend the dog isn’t there. When you enter the house, simply cross your arms over your chest and look straight ahead or up. If that doesn’t work, another way to fix the problem is to have his favorite toys by the door. When you enter the house, pick up a toy and throw it on the floor. This technique is intended to divert their attention away from you. This one works well for me and my five year old furry friend.

When your dog is successfully trained with any of these commands, he will respond before he thinks to jump. When your Jack Russell terrier doesn’t respond to command, more training is needed.
